Mr. Mark Lum
Chair | SDN Asia-Pacific Congress

Mark has worked in telecoms and carrier networks since graduating from Cambridge University. He joined ITT-STL where he was immediately put to work on the world's very first 140Mbit/s and 565Mbit/s optical line systems, and gained his MSc in Telecommunications studying statistics of modal noise in multimode systems.

In his career, he has contributed to the first SDH and WDM networks – even ATM – done time at ITU and ETSI standards as Rapporteur, and worked on early Carrier Ethernet services over a decade ago. More recently as a consulting analyst, he continues to stay on top of fundamental trends and disruptions, and examines new developments with a careful eye.

Since first finding out about OpenFlow and SDN over 3 years ago, Mark clearly recalls learning to program in 1973 using punched cards on an ICL mainframe (and front panel register toggles on a PDP-8). So he is especially delighted to welcome this distinguished panel of leaders, activists and pioneers to this latest Congress on Software-Defined Networking and Network Functions Virtualisation.

Ms. Anshu Agarwal
VP Marketing | ConteXtream

 

Anshu is responsible for all the marketing functions including product management, product marketing and marketing communications.

Prior to ConteXtream, she held marketing leadership positions at several networking companies including Juniper Networks, Ankeena (acquired by Juniper) and Level 3 Communications where she led successful marketing teams. She also worked at Akamai Technologies and Speedera Networks (acquired by Akamai) where she was instrumental in establishing the India office.

Anshu holds a B.S in Electronics from IIT/Roorkee, India; an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers, New Jersey; and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Illinois.

Mr. Matt Allcoat
Head of Solution Design: Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa | BT Global Services

 

Matt Allcoat has worked in telecoms and carrier networking for over fifteen years and leads the design of complex customer solutions at BT Global Services for the Asia, the Middle East and Africa region.

He specialises in transforming business operations by applying network innovation to open up new potential in customer business models. A proven track record of transformational solutions has included a variety of Fortune 500 companies and other high profile organisations such as Marks & Spencer, Deutsche Bank, the BBC, Noble Group and Jabil Circuit. His success in this field has come from a practical and grounded approach that uses new technology as a tool to achieve measurable business outcomes.

Matt holds an MSc in Computer Science and a BA in Economics and Computing, both from the University of Kent at Canterbury.

Mr. Gint Atkinson
VP, Network Strategy & Architecture | KVH

 

Gint leads the Strategy & Architecture team responsible for developing KVH's Pan-Asia Data Center Connectivity and Cloud Connectivity Service platforms that will reach for to cover Asia's top 100 data centers.

Prior to KVH, he spent six years with World Wide Packets and Ciena leading the development of Ethernet and Optical service platforms product lines. Gint has worked in the networking, mobile, and emerging media industries over 26 years as a serial entrepreneur for start-ups and large service providers including T-Mobile, AT&T, KDDI, Virgin Media and others.

Mr. Tom Bie
VP, Technology and Engineering Group | Tencent

 

Tom has been responsible for building and operating cloud infrastructure for Tencent, including massive scale cloud data centers, backbone networks and custom built servers, which powers a variety of Internet services and products offered by Tencent to Internet users. He leads the division and has spent many years working on technology and solutions on software defined infrastructure and automated operation to meet business challenges.

Tom has over 20 years experience in the Internet and networking industry, holding a master's degree in communication and electronic systems. He joined Tencent in 2005 and witnessed fast growth with this company. Prior to Tencent, Tom worked on IT infrastructure for online services in financial companies.

Mr. Don Bowman
Co-Founder and CTO | Sandvine

 

Don is a co-founder and chief technology officer for Sandvine. He is responsible for leading Sandvine's technical vision, including the strategic development, direction and future growth of Sandvine's products and solutions.

Before holding the position of CTO, Don served as vice president of consulting systems engineering and led Sandvine's development engineers and technical service consultants. Prior to Sandvine, Don was director of firmware and manager of software engineering for PixStream, responsible for system architecture. He also held the position of Manager, Software Engineering for Cisco Systems in the Video Networking Business Unit.

As a leader in the technology community, Don has spoken at notable events such as Broadband World Forum Asia, SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, ISS and the Communications Futures Program at MIT. In 2007, Don and his fellow co-founders were honoured with the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the technology category for their success and dedication to their work at Sandvine.

Originally from Ottawa, Don attended the University of Waterloo's bachelor of applied science program for systems design engineering. He currently resides in Waterloo with his wife.

  Mr. Luigi Castelli
Business Developer | Alcatel-Lucent

 

Luigi Castelli is a Director of Network Architecture and Business Development within Alcatel-Lucent's IP Transport Regional Business Center (RBC), Asia Pacific. He works closely with sales teams to develop new business across the region.

Prior to this, Luigi held roles in Product Management and R&D in Alcatel-Lucent Optical Division. He specializes in switching device programing and layer 2 Carrier Ethernet network design and implementation.

Luigi holds a Telecommunications Degree from the University of Politectnico in Milan, Italy.

Mr. Chen Li
Architect of Data Center and SDN | China Mobile

 

Chen Li is Architect of Data Center and SDN at the China Mobile Research Institute, Beijing, China.

Li obtained the master degree from Dept. Electronic and Information Engineering at Beijing Institute of Technology in 2010.

He joined China Mobile in 2010 and is working on the IP core and Data Center network. He has designed two Private Cloud networks and a Public Cloud network for China Mobile. Li is currently the manager of SDN project in China Mobile.

Mr. Marc Cohn
Senior Director, Market Development | Ciena

 

Chair, Market Education Committee | Open Networking Foundation

 

Marc Cohn is a Senior Director, Market Development at Ciena Corporation based in San Jose, where he has been a major contributor to Ciena's Software Defined Networking (SDN) initiative, and responsible for marketing Ciena's Multilayer WAN Controller.

Marc is an active participant in the SDN and NFV community, chairing the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) Market Education Committee (MEC). Marc also was elected to the OpenDaylight Board of Directors, where he represents the Silver-level members. He also represents Ciena on the ETSI Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV) ISG and is the ONF liaison to the Open Networking User Group (ONUG).

Marc also speaks extensively on SDN, and has organized successful SDN tutorials and workshops for major SDN and NFV events, including the Open Networking Summit, SDN & OpenFlow World Congress, NFV & SDN Summit, and SDN & OpenFlow APAC Congress. In addition, Marc is a frequent contributor to the ONF Blog, ETSI NFV Blog, and SDN Central where he edits the popular NFV Insider's Perspective series.

Prior to joining Ciena, Marc held senior marketing and product management roles with IP Infusion, Amdocs, Lucent Technologies, Alidian Networks, and International Network Services. He has over 20 technical publications and has been a frequent contributor to networking standards, along with newsletters, Blogs, etc. Marc earned a MS EE degree from the University of Southern California where he was a Hughes Fellow, a BS EE degree in Electrical Engineering and was the first Computer Engineering graduate from the University of Missouri.

Mr. Wayne Cullen
Senior Manager, Marketing | Cisco

 

Wayne Cullen is responsible for architecture marketing to Service Providers world-wide.

His current focus is on transformational service delivery architectures, which encompass infrastructure solutions for network service providers. These architectures include the emerging software defined networks and the Cisco Open Network Environment, cloud-computing services and other forward-looking approaches that help service providers transform their businesses across their whole portfolio for greater economic benefit and competitiveness.

Wayne graduated with honors in Electronics Engineering from the University of Queensland, Australia, and lives in California, USA.

Mr. Uri Elzur
SDN System Architecture Director | Intel

 

Uri Elzur is a director of the SDN System Architecture team with Intel's Communications and Storage Infrastructure Group, which is part of Intel's DCG. In this role, Uri is responsible for creating long term vision, technical strategy, architectures and products for server platforms, working with multiple groups and product divisions.

Uri is a networking specialist with more than 25 years of industry experience and a proven track record of creating innovative product architectures, strategies and intellectual property in Networking, Security and related technologies.

Prior to joining Intel, Uri held the position of Sr. Director at Broadcom, managing an architecture team with responsibilities over the company's NIC architecture and strategy. In that role Uri led multiple innovations in the areas of Virtualization, TCP offload, RDMA, iSER, iSCSI/FCoE and more. He holds many patents and has represented his employer in multiple standards organizations and industry consortiums including OpenDayLight, ONF, OpenStack, IETF, IEEE, T.11, DMTF and RDMA Consortium and is the co-author of few RFCs.

Experienced in public talking include multiple presentations at ODL, ONRC panel, Microsoft WinHec and VMworld and more recently IBM Edge 2013, Uri holds a BSc EE and MSc EE/CS degrees from the Technion in Haifa, Israel.

Mr. Gerry Feeney
SDN Market Development | NEC

 

Gerry Feeney is responsible for promoting NEC's SDN strategic program in EMEA.

Gerry has extensive experience with leading equipment vendors in the development and deployment of network solutions for the telecommunications industry. His expertise spans a wide range of technologies in fixed and mobile networks, and patents have been awarded for his contribution to mobile core network design.

During his career of over 30 years in the telecommunications industry Gerry has held leadership roles in R&D, operations, professional services, product/program management, recruiting/teambuilding, offshoring/outsourcing and strategic change programs.

Gerry has a Bachelor of Science from Aston University in Birmingham, UK, and a Masters degree in Telecommunications from University College London. He is a Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS), is registered with FEANI as a European Engineer (EUR ING) and registered in the UK as a Chartered Engineer (CEng).

Mr. Charles Ferland
Vice President of Business Development | Nuage Networks

 

Charles is responsible for Nuage business development activities world-wide. With over 18 years of international experience, he more recently focused on Software Defined Networking and has been one of the early promoters of this technology.

He participates in many world-class SDN events, actively engaging customers and developing concrete uses cases helping them solve modern datacenter networking issues. Prior to joining Nuage, Charles was the SDN Executive at IBM, responsible for global sales and business development. He also led the IBM System Networking business unit in Europe for several years. Charles' involvement in datacenter networking began with the creation of BLADE Network Technologies (BNT, later acquired by IBM) where he was Vice President and General Manager for EMEA.

Charles' ability to articulate the value proposition into simple and concrete scenarios makes his presentations style very lively and easy to follow. He studied in Mathematics and Computer Sciences at the University of Quebec and holds an MBA from the University of Wales.

Mr. Nir Halachmi
Director of Strategic Product Management and Innovation | Telco Systems

 

Nir Halachmi is the Director of Strategic Product Management and Innovation at Telco Systems. He is responsible for Telco Systems' new SDN / NFV product lines as well as the demarcation product lines.

He has spent several years working in the wireless domain and is a subject matter expert for mobile backhaul solutions. He is focusing now on SDN and NFV as the emerging telecommunication technologies, and is leading Telco Systems' strategy on these technologies.

Nir has spent the past 15 years developing and managing telecommunications products within both the wired and the wireless industries, and has worked across various technologies including Carrier Ethernet, Circuit Emulation, MPLS, IP Networking, Wi-Fi and WiMAX. Nir is now leading Telco Systems' innovation efforts in areas like Virtualization (SDN / NFV), Cyber solutions and SON.

He holds a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the Inter-Disciplinary Center (IDC) in Israel.

Mr. Steve Hill
Senior Analyst – Data Center Solutions | Current Analysis

 

Steve is responsible for covering the emerging technologies that are remapping the traditional data center landscape. These include software and hardware products that are needed to support public and private cloud infrastructures, as well as the underlying virtualization and orchestration technology required to enable process automation and workload management. He also covers the Converged Infrastructure market, with a focus on the latest generations of vendor pre-certified and optimized hardware/software stacks.

For a decade prior to joining Current Analysis, Steve was an independent speaker, writer and analyst on data center technologies as well as serving as the Technology Editor of Storage and Servers for Network Computing Magazine. He has authored numerous articles on enterprise-class computing systems and spoken throughout the United States as an early advocate of server virtualization and network convergence technologies. Prior to that he spent 12 years serving a number of technologist roles as an imaging systems administrator and departmental manager for a Fortune-500 retail corporation.

Mr. Michael Howard

As co-founder of Infonetics Research, Michael Howard has 40 years of communications industry experience, including 20 years in market research.

Michael is recognized worldwide as one of the industry's leading experts in emerging markets, service provider network market trends, and user buying patterns. He currently focuses on IP edge and core routers, carrier Ethernet, IP/MPLS, VPLS, pseudowires, WDM-PON, WDM, ROADM, SONET/SDH optical, 40G–100G, IP NGN, and packet transport from customer CPE through the metro to the core and long haul. He also tracks IP VPN, Ethernet, mobile backhaul, and optical services that service providers offer their customers.

In addition to authoring regular market research reports, Michael is a consultant to startups, service providers, manufacturers, and the investment community, identifying new market opportunities, providing due diligence, and advising on positioning, product development, business plans, and M&A activity.

Mr. Hideo Ishii

Hideo Ishii is the Vice President for Network Engineering and Architecture at Pacnet.

In this role, he is responsible for architecture, engineering and deployment of Pacnet's network infrastructures, Submarine cable system, Optical transport, Ethernet transport, MPLS/IP Networks and also system engineering and next generation network technologies, SDN, OpenFlow and NFV.

Hideo joined Global Crossing Japan in 2000 and has held a number of senior positions in Pacnet. He was most recently VP of IP and Cloud services and also held Country Manager of Pacnet Japan and Director of IP Engineering.

Mr. Robert Jones

Robert is a highly trained and experienced research engineer with two published patents in the field of process engineering.

Having left the engineering world to use latent skills in communication and management, Robert spent 10 years in the events business working for a global events organisation, during which time he developed an astute judgement of what will work commercially and how to meet customer expectations, launching and growing events that were highly successful in Europe, Asia and South America.

Robert has drawn together senior professionals with both events and industry backgrounds to build a unique business information platform.

Mr. Paresh Khatri
Director – E2E Platform Architecture Strategy | Alcatel-Lucent

 

Paresh Khatri is the director and head of E2E Platform Architecture Strategy of IP Routing and Transport Regional Business Center, Alcatel-Lucent APAC.

He has been responsible for architectural design for the largest IP transformation projects in the region, and is now working closely with service providers as they address the growing demand for scale and new services for the next generation of wireline and wireless networks in the cloud era. Paresh's areas of expertise include the entire range of IP/MPLS technologies and applications, from the network core to the access network. He also specialises in packet-based mobile core and backhaul networks and emerging mobile technologies such as LTE.

Paresh has more than 15 years' experience with both service providers and vendors in building carrier-grade IP/MPLS networks, including the largest IP NGN transformation project ever undertaken in Australia.

Paresh is a regular speaker at industry conferences in the APAC region and also actively participates in a number of telecommunications industry standards bodies.

Dr. Kim Yeongjin
CTO/Managing Director at Wired & Wireless Convergence Research Department | ETRI

 

Yeongjin Kim is managing director of Wired & Wireless Convergence Research Department at Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). He is responsible for leading the technical vision and the convergence of wireline & wireless telecommunication and researching the 5th generation mobile telecommunication.

Yeongjin joined ETRI in 1983. He has worked in the research and development of digital switching system, CDMA mobile telecommunication system and LTE/LTE-A mobile telecommunication system. He has a great deal of experience in wireline & wireless telecommunication.

Yeongjin received a Ph.D. degree in mobile telecommunication.

Mr. Lau Kok Khiang
Deputy Director, IP Routing & Transport | Alcatel-Lucent

 

KK Lau has been working in the Carrier space with solution ranging from IP/MPLS routing to mobile backhaul and now Software Defined Networks.

He is also the lead Nuage Networks technical solutions architect for the APAC region in Alcatel-Lucent covering both service providers (for NFV applications, service chaining) and as well as enterprise solutions (Network infrastructure virtualization, including WAN integration capabilities, multi-tenancy networks).

Mr. Li Hongyu

Senior Standard Expert | Huawei

 

Hongyu Li joined Huawei in 2000 and became one of the earliest team members of the IP DSLAM product and collected profound experience in access products and services. Now Hongyu works in the Advanced Technology Department and performs research of architecture, services and solutions for fixed access and aggregation network and is focused on standard related activities.

Hongyu is an active participant in BBF, IETF and ESTI ISG NFV. He has attended the Broadband Forum meetings as a representative for Huawei since 2005 and is an editor for several projects in E2EA WG and SIMR WG. In 2008 Hongyu was awarded the Outstanding Contributor Award by the Broadband Forum. In 2012 he initiated the SDN work in BBF and proposed the first Carrier SDN project SD-313.

Mr. Sanjeev Mervana
Sr. Director | Cisco

 

As Senior Director of Marketing for Service Provider Business at Cisco, Sanjeev is responsible for setting and executing the strategic direction of products and solutions for Cisco Service Provider Solutions and Architectures around SDN/NFV, Evolved Programmable Network ( EPN) , Mobility, Cloud and Video for Cisco's global service provider customers.

Sanjeev is an expert on a broad portfolio of intelligent Routing & Switching platforms, solutions software & architectures designed to meet service provider needs. Recent accomplishments of Sanjeev, includes the successful introduction of Industry's First Network Convergence System Family for Internet of Everything ( IoE), Cisco Open Networking Environment ( ONE) for Service Provider, ASR 9000 , ASR 900 & ME3600/3800 in the Service Provider Market segment, as well as managing the business of Carrier Ethernet Edge routing within Cisco's Service Provider Networking Group.

Sanjeev has been with Cisco for over 15 years and has authored various publications, blogs as well as a Cisco Press Book "Design Principles of DSL Based Access Solutions." With over 25 years of experience in networking , Software & Solutions , Sanjeev has held prominent roles leading innovative and architectures and solutions around Software, SDN, NFV, Broadband Aggregation, IPTV Carrier Ethernet and Mobile IP RAN business within Cisco.

Sanjeev holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics from Pune University and currently resides in San Jose with his wife, daughter and son.

Mr. Lior Mishan
Head of Product Marketing and Marketing Communications | RAD Data Communications

 

Lior Mishan joined RAD in 2014 as Head of Product Marketing, and was subsequently named to serve simultaneously as the company's RAD's Head of Marketing Communications.

Prior to coming to RAD Lior served in a number of senior marketing strategy and business development positions with other vendors, including Alvarion, Wavion, RADVISION, and Corrigent Systems. He also brings to RAD experience in software R&D and digital processing. Lior holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Tel Aviv University.

Dr. Dan Pitt
Executive Director | Open Networking Foundation

 

Dan Pitt is Executive Director of the Open Networking Foundation, a role he has held since its public launch in March 2011. As such he sets the vision and strategic direction and oversees all technical, outreach, and operational activities involving the ONF staff, Board of Directors, and over 2,000 volunteer contributors. ONF's activities span technical development and market education for the whole of SDN, including not just the OpenFlow substrate but also many aspects supporting services and orchestration in and above the control plane. ONF's mission is to accelerate the adoption of open SDN.

Prior to ONF, Dan spent twenty years developing networking architecture, technology, standards, and products at IBM in Raleigh and Zurich, Hewlett Packard Labs in Palo Alto, and Bay Networks and Nortel Networks in Santa Clara, where he was vice president for the Bay Architecture Lab and the Enterprise Solutions Technology Center. His standards experience spans IEEE, ANSI, ISO, IETF, ETSI, BSI, JSI, and ATM Forum responsibilities, and his organization's technologies enhanced a wide array of shipped products.

From 2002-2007 he served as dean of the school of engineering at Santa Clara University. From 2007-2011 he advised and served in executive operational roles in technology startup companies in the U.S., Australia, and Canada.

Dan received a B.S. in mathematics (magna cum laude) from Duke University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Illinois. He taught as an adjunct professor at Duke University and the University of North Carolina for ten years, has served on advisory boards at UC Berkeley and EPFL, has fifty publications and one patent to his credit, and chairs an awards committee for the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology.

Mr. Phil Robb
Director | The OpenDaylight Project

 

Phil Robb is the Director of Networking Solutions at the Linux Foundation. In this role Phil is supporting the rapid and robust growth of open source software defined networking (SDN) through the OpenDaylight Project.

Prior to joining the Linux Foundation Phil was the director of HP's Open Source Program Office where he had responsibility for HP's corporate open source strategy, engagement with the open source community, oversight of the Open Source Review Board, and a variety of software development projects. Phil was focused on open source at HP from 2001 through 2012.

Phil is a widely respected expert in the area of open source strategy, business impact, and governance. He is frequently asked to speak at international technology & business events and he has been consulted by policy makers including the European Commission, and the United States Department of Justice as well as numerous high technology trade organisations.

Prior to joining HP, Phil held senior management and technical positions at Critical Path, Fisher Scientific, Motorola and Honeywell-Bull focused on wireless, and wireline high speed telecommunications software and services.

Phil holds a bachelor of science degree in Management Information Systems from Bowling Green State University and performed graduate studies in Computer Science at Colorado State University.

Mr. Angus Robertson

CEF Marketing Co-Chair / VP Segment Marketing | Spirent Communications

 

Angus Robertson is Vice President – Segment Marketing for Spirent Communications' Networks and Applications. In this role, Angus' responsibility encompasses marketing strategy, industry leadership and sales enablement for Spirent's Applications and Security, Cloud Data Center, Mobility, and Service Provider market segments.

During his tenure at Spirent, his roles have included Director of Solutions Marketing for Spirent's automation software and lab management products, Director of Asia Business Development based in Hong Kong, world-wide marketing responsibility for Spirent Global Services, and responsibility for Spirent's market development program -- the Advanced Test Programs or ATP.

While managing the ATP initiative, Angus and his team worked closely with industry media, labs, and forums to actively develop test methodologies and promote the validation of next-generation technologies. Angus' professional career spans the aerospace, IT, and telecommunications industries over more than 18 years. His roles also included technology transfer for NASA and designing and deploying networks and systems for the University of Georgia.

Dr. Frank Rühl
Managing Director | Blue Ocean Networks

 

Frank Rühl is the Managing Director and Founder of Blue Ocean Networks, a telecommunications consultancy with a focus of delivering innovative technology solutions for telecom networks and training programs in advanced telecommunications technologies.

Frank holds a PhD from the Australian National University and.has over 30 years experience in telecommunications, managing telecommunications R&D projects and network technology strategy in Tier 1 service provider environments. In his previous role he was Emerging Technology Manager in Telstra's Chief Technology Office & Innovation group and responsible for Strategy and Innovation in all Fixed Network technologies, including Transport, Aggregation, Broadband Access, IP Core Networks and Network Control.

He has been a leader in the evolution of Telstra's fixed networks. Recently, he has been leading the technology strategy for SDN and NFV networks and managing various proof-of-concept demonstrations with key vendors in these areas. He has been part of the founding ETSI NFV Network Operator Council and has been co-author of both the ETSI NFV Whitepapers.

He has been an Invited speaker at major international conferences including the Optical Fiber Communications Conference (OFC), Conference on Optical Internet (COIN), International Conference on Next Generation Internet and Related Technologies (MPLS International Conference), the SDN and OpenFlow World Congress and the SDN and NFV Summit.

Mr. Tim Smith

Tim Smith brings more than 20 years of experience in the ICT industry, and has engaged and consulted with thousands of customers industries covering multiple technologies. In his current role, Tim is an Architect and Technical Leader, working for the CTO APJC. Tim brings a wide-ranging and novel perspective to the current problems facing organizations today including complexity, management, security, mobility, the Internet of things, big data, analytics, and SDN. Prior to Cisco Tim worked for Motorola, Southern Illinois University, Woodward Governor, and the US Army.

Mr. Shahar Steiff

Shahar Steiff joined PCCW Global Ltd. in 2001 and during his tenure has served in sales, pre-sales, product development and management roles.

In his current assignment as AVP New Technologies, part of the Technology & Applications team, Shahar is evaluating the technical, commercial and operational applicability of new technologies to PCCW Global's portfolio of products and services. Prior to his roles at PCCW-Global Ltd. Shahar worked for Teleglobe Inc. and for NetVision, Israel's pioneering commercial ISP of that time.

Shahar has been an active member of the MEF for the past several years, and is a Member of the MEF Board of Directors, a Co-Chair of the MEF Service-Operations Committee, and a member of the MEF Marketing Leadership Council.

Mr. Alex Su

Mr. Tan Chia

Chia has over 19 years experience in the Telco Market. He is currently the Director of Service Provider Solutions Engineering for Asia Pacific Japan China at Cisco Systems Ltd. In his current role, Chia is responsible for delivering Network Strategy and Solutions into Telcos to achieve their Business goals e.g. Cost Optimization and Increasing Revenue & Profitability.

Chia&supl;s scope covers Tier 1 & Tier 2, Fixed and Wireless Operators across the Region. Current technology trends that Chia and his team consults covers Fixed Mobile Convergence, Wireless services (LTE, WiFi, Small cells) & Analytics, Network Function Virtualization, SDN and Network Programmability. These trends lead towards transforming the Telco in order to create New Services and capture Market Opportunities.

Chia and his team are also involved across National Broadband initiatives across the region. This covers all layers e.g. NetCo, OpCo, RSP across Singapore, India, NZ, Indonesia (WiFi), Malaysia and the current NBN-Co. He also participates in Industry Events and Forum including recently Carrier Ethernet APAC, NFV-SDN Asia

Prior to his current role, Chia was a Senior Customer Solutions Architect for in ANZ then to APAC. His experience has seen him work across the various phases and trends in the market such as Deregulation of Access, Compeition for the last mile, introduction of LTE, WiFi, FTTx and Broadband initiatives

Chia graduated with Degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and has also completed a Masters in Business Technology

As a Director of Systems Engineering for Brocade, Orcun Tezel is responsible for setting the strategic direction and technical development of Systems Engineering community to lead the company's rapid growth in highly virtualized next generation data centers, ethernet fabrics and cloud services.

Orcun brings 15 years of experience and significant achievements in the networking and telecommunications industries with a solid track record of leading regional pre-sales teams with increasing responsibility in SE Leadership, Product Management and Channel development roles in 3Com, HP Networking and Cisco.

Most recently he spent a year at Cisco driving partner enablement and developments efforts to accelerate building and scaling architecture practices in partner community and ecosystem partners.

Orcun earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul, and he also holds MBA in Sales Management and MSc. degree in Telecommunication Technologies from Strayer University, Virginia,United States.

Mr. Jon Vestal
Vice President, Product Architecture | Pacnet

 

Based in Singapore, Jon Vestal is a veteran of the telecoms industry with over 20 years of IT and telecommunications experience from engineering and operations to product development and sales.

In his current role as head of product architecture at Pacnet, Jon overseas the team responsible for the enhancement of Pacnet's core network products as well as the design and delivery of strategic product initiatives including cloud computing.

He joined Pacnet 2011 to lead the company's Content Delivery Network (CDN) product development, spearheading the buildout of Pacnet's extensive Asia Pacific CDN PoP network and helping create a growing and profitable new product portfolio for Pacnet.

Prior to assuming this role, Jon was Asia Pacific Managing Director for Expereo Singapore. He also spent more than 10 years at Internap Network Services where he served in a number key positions including General Manager of APAC and earlier as acting CTO of Internap Japan and Director of International Engineering and Operations.

Mr. Leigh Wade
Business Development Director APAC | Infinera

 

Leigh Wade joined Infinera in 2005. Previously he held positions in Sales Engineering at Calient and Corvis where he was responsible for the design of Optical and GMPLS based solutions into various service provider market segments.

Prior to that he was at Cisco Systems from 1996 to 2000 where he held Engineering and Consulting positions focused on the service provider market.

Leigh earned his B.Eng from UCE Birmingham and an MBA from Kingston University and has 25 years of experience in the Telecommunications industry.

Mr. Michael Wang
System Engineering Manager, Cisco Mobility Solution Architecture | Cisco

 

Michael Wang is Cisco Mobility leader in Greater China Region responsible for driving the mobility solution architecture, mobility business development and strategy.

Prior to Cisco, Michael was the technical leader of Starent China from 2002 to early 2010 when Starent integrated into Cisco Mobile Internet Technology Group. In Starent, Michael was responsible for presales consultant on 2G/3G Packet Core PDSN, HA, SGSN, GGSN, 4G LTE EPC, DPI, PCC, WiMAX, Femto, IMS, and VIM solutions and products for Greater China and Southeast Asia. Before Starent, from 2001 to 2002, he was the software engineer responsible for the research and development of CDMA Packet Core product, in Network Communication R&D Center, Eastcom in Hangzhou.

Michael has a Master's degree from Wuhan University on majority of Detection and Control technology in Electronic Information Institute; and a Bachelor degree in Computer Science from Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Engineering.

Mr. Steve West
Founder and CTO | Cyan

 

Steve is co-founder and CTO of Cyan, a manufacturer of Packet Optical Transport Platforms, and developer of planning, management and verification software tools for transport networks.

Prior to founding Cyan, Steve was a member of the founding team at Turin Networks, and an early employee at Advanced Fibre Communications, all three companies located in Petaluma in beautiful Sonoma county California, an area known for its fine wines and great telecommunications products.

Steve has B.Sc and M.Sc Electrical Engineering degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Mr. Wong Lim

Wong Lim is currently Customer Solutions Architect at Cisco Systems Hong Kong Ltd.

He has over 25 years experience in IP internet working that includes design and implementation of complex customer projects for service providers. Lim has also been involved with developing many ultra reliable and low latency networks for supporting mission critical enterprise applications.

Prior to joining Cisco, Lim worked for a large US enterprise company managing a nation-wide multiprotocol Wide Area Network. Lim has presented in various conferences on the topic of MPLS, Carrier Ethernet & SDN.

Mr. Yang Guang
Senior Analyst – Wireless Operator Strategies | Strategy Analytics

 

Guang Yang is a Senior Analyst based in Beijing, China providing deep insights into the operator, service provider, regulatory and device dynamics in this critical market. Guang brings over 10 years of experience in the mobile communications industry to Strategy Analytics.

Prior to joining Strategy Analytics, Guang worked in some well-known telecom players, including Lucent, France Telecom R&D and ZTE. His experience covers research and development, standardization and strategic analysis for 3G/4G, spectrum, emerging wireless technologies, and the development of industrial cooperation. Guang will support consulting project execution with Chinese clients, Research and write about the Chinese and other Asian markets, expand relationships with Chinese operators, regulators and media players.

Guang received his BE and ME degree on telecom and information system from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

Mr. Raymond Zhang
CTO, APAC | Alcatel-Lucent

 

Raymond Zhang is the Chief Technical Officer and director of IP product management in the IP Competence Centre at Alcatel-Lucent APAC.

Prior to this role, he was the principle network architect and senior director of IP Strategy at Alcatel-Lucent USA, and has over 20 years experience in the telecommunication industry.

Before joining Alcatel-Lucent, Raymond was the chief network architect/Director at British Telecom (BT), leading the architecture vision, strategy, and development for 21CN & Cloud Infrastructure from 2005. Prior to BT, Raymond has worked as principle network architect at Infonet for 10 years, and network consultant at AT&T Federal System for 4 years.
