With the advent of SD-WAN and NFV, more and more service providers will evolve to incorporate an overlay network model where they will deliver all kinds of Layer 4 to 7 virtualized functions inserted within an overlay tunneled network. For example, Security-as-service (SECaaS) attached to an SD-WAN could involve Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) distributed across subscriber CPE sites, service provider Points of Presence (POPs), and one or more Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) public cloud providers. All of these functions and services have to be managed and automated by a single or distributed set of Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO) platforms.

Learn in this session how MEF's standardization efforts related to LSO APIs, SD-WAN managed services, and SECaaS are helping providers address a set of complex challenges, including the automation and interaction of LSO APIs between different service providers residing in different geographic regions.

Colt On Demand Platform Evolution: It's Time for the Telco Cloud!

Colt is just in the middle of a journey towards building a new customer-centric model based on a fully-automated On Demand platform. The initial work started back in 2015 focused around the development of the Novitas engine, an SDN-based Network Orchestrator enabling Colt's first network as a service offering. Beyond the initial SDN and connectivity On Demand propositions, the next evolution in Colt has been around leveraging NFV to build Colt's Telco Cloud (Stratus), a fully distributed network virtualization platform enabling true Cloud Networking experience for customers. The final component in Colt's On Demand Evolution is Sentio, a platform to drive Network Intelligence and full network and service operation automation through the use of AI and ML. This presentation will focus on Colt's Stratus project, sharing the progress, status and experiences in building Colt's NFV Telco Cloud.
