Previous to this role, Ray worked in the Fixed Network Planning area of BT Cellnet with specific responsibility for the ATM networks that were rolled out to support the 3G network (Cisco MGX and Cisco BPX).

Before transferring to BT Cellnet in 2000, Ray worked as a Fibre Optic Planning Manager in BT. Ray's team was responsible for planning the installation of fibre optic cabling and the associated transmission equipment for both internal BT network use and for the delivery of services to corporate customers (including transmission to base sites).

Dean Bubley is the Founder of Disruptive Analysis, a UK-based technology analyst firm focused on the mobile industry. He holds a BA in Physics from Keble College, Oxford University.

Charles Curry is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and founder & Managing Director of Chronos Technology Ltd. Charles graduated in Electronics from Liverpool University in 1973, and started his career at GEC Hirst Research Centre, progressing to Racal Instruments where he was responsible for sales of test equipment including specialist frequency and time products such as Loran C and Caesium standards.

He founded Chronos, a leading system integrator for synchronisation and timing products in the UK telecom industry, in 1986. Chronos has supplied and installed 1000’s of GPS & Timing systems worldwide for mobile and fixed line telecom operators.

Charles founded the International Telecom Sync Forum (ITSF) in 2001 and chairs the ITSF Steering Group. He is also a member of the Workshop in Sync in Telecommunications Systems (WSTS) Steering Group which meets annually in Boulder, Colorado. Charles is on the Steering Group for the Technology Strategy Board’s Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) for Digital Systems - Location and Timing Programme. Charles is also a member of the Industry Advisory Boards for the Universities of Liverpool and Bath, Electrical and Electronics Faculties.

Prior to taking up this role, Walter worked in several positions on the development and introduction of GSM-R, the international mobile communication standard for railways.

Mr. Kevin Holley

Kevin Holley has worked in the telecommunications industry for 25 years with BT, Cellnet, O2 and Telefonica.

He took a leading role in the standardisation of SMS and helped this to become the global text messaging phenomenon of today. He has held various leadership positions in global standards bodies including the third generation partnership project (3GPP) and the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA).

Today he is vice chair of the 3GPP Service and System Aspects (SA) group which is responsible for the overall architecture and service capabilities of 3GPP's systems.

Tim joined BT in January 2006 as the Head of 21CN Technology and Platform Introduction, leading the team responsible for evaluating and understanding how to introduce new technologies, platforms and end to end solutions for delivering next generation services across 21CN.

In June 2009, Tim was appointed Head of Wholesale Data Solutions where he leads the team responsible for identifying and developing new, innovative end to end managed data solutions, including network, security and content, that will deliver new revenue streams for BT Wholesale in the mobile and fixed segments.

Humberto J. La Roche is Director for Wireless Architecture at Juniper Networks where he focuses attention on planning for the needs of mobility service providers.

In his twenty-year telecom career, he has been responsible for LTE systems engineering, product management of IMS and wireless softswitch products, product planning of optical networking and broadband access products, and transport network design

He is co-author of over 30 technical papers and holds a B.Sc. from Simón Bolívar University in Caracas (with honors) and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, both in Physics.



Mr. Martin Kingston

Martin Kingston has over 20 years experience in communications covering broadcast, fixed, mobile and internet services, and the transmission and transport technologies that underpin them. He has been pursuing transport network convergence for the last ten years, firstly in the Orange mobile network, then with the addition of Orange Broadband, and now in Everything Everywhere (the combined Orange and T-Mobile UK networks).

Starting at the lowest layers of the network and working up, he has delivered transport convergence solutions using DWDM, SDH, ATM, MPLS, Ethernet and IP technologies and turned the stack on its head with Pseudowire technology. He is also active in the field of synchronisation in next generation transport networks.



Mr. Ben McCahill

Ben McCahill is director of mobile business development in Europe, Middle East and Africa at Tellabs. In this role, he is responsible for building customer relationships and delivering innovative and cost-effective mobile backhaul solutions to our customers.

Ben joined Tellabs in 1993 and has held various positions in R&D, customer services, product management and business solutions group. He left Tellabs in 2003 to join e-Net, an operator in the fibre wholesale market and re-joined it in 2006 in his current role. He has over 15 years of experience in networking and telecom industries.

Ben holds a Bachelor Degree in engineering from the University College Dublin and a Master of Science degree from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh.

Steven Nurenberg, Distinguished Member of Technical Staff, AT&T Labs has current responsibility for forward-looking design and evolution strategies of AT&T’s mobile core infrastructures and to work cross-layer issues between wireline and wireless networks.

In his previous assignment, he was responsible for L1/L2/L3 design and scale strategies for AT&T’s US and most of world networks including the recent integration of the mobile and wireline IP backbones.

Steve started his career in 1980 at Bell Laboratories as a systems engineer on voice key telephone systems and has worked in number of assignments related to voice, data, and computing technologies.

He has a BES in EE from The John Hopkins University and a MS in EE from The University of California at Berkeley.



Mr. Serban Purge

Serban has worked as a research engineer in Orange Labs since 2005, when he obtained the Engineering Degree in Telecommunications of Telecom Bretagne, France and Universitatea Politehnica in Timisoara, Romania.

He has worked in the domain of wireless access networks, and been involved or has led projects covering fixed mobile convergence, network dimensioning and network architecture design.

Today, as an access network architect he represents Orange within 3GPP RAN WG3 standardization group. As a trainer, Serban is involved in wireless access architecture training programs within Orange Labs and two prestigious engineering schools in France.

In 2003 he became a Technical Consultant for Mobil Backhaul Networks. He worked closely together with Mobile Providers and R&D to develop Mobil Backhaul specific transport solutions.

Mr. Andy Sutton

Andy Sutton is a telecommunication network architect with over 25 years of experience. At Everything Everywhere, he is responsible for transport network architecture and strategy with particular emphasis on mobile backhaul.

Andy became part of Everything Everywhere when Orange UK and T-Mobile UK merged in 2010. Andy previously worked for Orange having returned to the company in March 2007 to take up the role of Principal Design Consultant, and spent the previous two years working for 3UK, initially as a WAN Specialist and then as Lead Network Architect. Prior to 3, Andy was with Orange for 12 years and prior to that, he worked for Mercury Communications on fixed network transmission, switching and synchronisation systems.

Andy is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET) and is active within the MEF and MGMN Alliance on mobile backhaul topics.

Today Rémi THOMAS is Director of the LTE/EPC Programme of France Telecom Orange, the purpose of which is preparing the commercial launch of LTE EPC in the different Orange operations. He is member of the LSTI Steering board; he is alternate member of the NGMN board.

Rémi THOMAS was born in 1959. He graduated from the "Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications" (Paris) in 1982.

In 1983 he joined France Telecom R&D where he contributed to the research and standardisation for GSM.

From 1995 to 1999, he chaired ETSI/SMG7, the ETSI sub technical committee in charge of the testing and type approval of the GSM Mobile Equipment.

In 1999 he joined Orange France where he has been director of the “UMTS network project”.

Rémi THOMAS contributed to “GSM and UMTS – The creation of Global Mobile Communication” which is the GSM history book. He contributed as well to the “Wireless Engineering Body of Knowledge” (WEBOK) edited by the IEEE Communications Society.

He is on the “GSM Roll of Honour list” released in 2001 by the GSM Association.

Phil Tilley currently holds the position of Senior Director, European Regional Marketing for Alcatel-Lucent’s IP Division. His responsibilities include developing the market awareness of Alcatel-Lucents IP product portfolio, working with service providers to ensure success with their business services portfolio and building the required IP skills within Alcatel-Lucent to support a market leading IP portfolio.

Phil is also the Global marketing Co-Chair for the MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) where he is working with other vendors and service provider members to increase awareness and adoption of Carrier Ethernet.

Phil has more than 15 years engineering and marketing experience. He has worked closely with many carriers throughout Europe advising on the latest market trends and how these carriers can bring the technologies to market in a user centric manor. He is a regular presenter and chairman in industry conferences.

He joined Newbridge Networks in 1992, prior to its acquisition by Alcatel, starting as an approvals engineer. He subsequently held posts as product specialist, product manager and new carrier sector marketing manager. Phil has a Bachelor of Science degree in electronic engineering from the University College of North Wales.

Mohan Trikur is responsible for core network strategy and solutions, focusing on Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and IMS systems.

He works closely with Ericsson’s business units for solution and roadmap alignment for customers in North America. Mohan has more than 16 years of technical experience with Ericsson, holding various roles in Research and Development, Product Management and Customer Solutions Management.

Prior to his current role, Mohan was responsible for end-to-end customer solutions and Product Manager for North American regulatory solutions. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston.



Mr. Thierry Van De Velde

Thierry Van de Velde is Consulting Engineer for Mobile in the EMEA IP Competence Centre (IPCC).

He joined Alcatel-Lucent’s IP Division (IPD) in July 2010, after a 17-year track record in telecoms, most of it in the domain of mobile internet, a.o. recently as Technical Marketing Engineer for Cisco’s 7600 eGGSN.

He holds a Masters in Engineering from Brussels University and a degree in business administration from Solvay Business School. He is the author of a book on value added services for next generation networks and a patent on service-aware mobile gateways.



Mr. Jan Vandenhoudt

Mr. Jan Vandenhoudt is a Senior regional Product Line Manager for Fixed and Mobile IP for the EMEA region at Alcatel-Lucent, based in Antwerp, Belgium.

Jan supports operators of fixed or mobile networks as they introduce new technology; mainly in (evolved) Packet Core, IP/MPLS Backbones, IP/MPLS backhaul networks, and residential and business service networks. He has worked for fifteen years in the Telecommunications and networking industry in Belgium, the US and Canada, for Alcatel and several start-ups.

Jan holds a Masters in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Sciences and Mechatronics) and a Masters in Business Administration.



Ms. Lei Wang

Lei Wang is chief IP network architect in Telenor. Her primary responsibility is overall network design and implementation, in particular IP routing, MPLS switching and Quality of Service.

Her recent interests are multi-service network QoS design, P2MP LSP and MPLS fast rerouting. She participates in international fora and is co-author of several IETF drafts.
