The Broadband Forum mission is to develop the full potential of broadband. Focused on home-to-core network and management solutions, our standards empower providers to achieve more with their broadband deployment. The Broadband Forum is a global consortium of approximately 200 leading industry players covering telecom equipment, computing, networking and service provider companies.
Established in 1994 as the ADSL Forum and later as the DSL Forum, the Broadband Forum has seen its work over the past 14 years evolve from addressing physical layer ADSL transport specifications to advanced transport and management specifications for all forms of broadband. With its union with the IP/MPLS Forum, the Broadband Forum is now the central body for next generation IP network specifications.
The Broadband Forum’s formal BroadbandSuite™ Release Program and all technical reports are publicly available.

Cyan enables service providers to scale, simplify and transform metro, regional, wireless backhaul and data centre networks for more profitable packet-optical transport and management of services.
Economically scaling from 1 Gigabit to 10 Gigabit Ethernet, SONET/SDH or OTN transport rings to meshed multi-layer DWDM/ROADM grooming networks with 40G to 400G capacities per fibre, Cyan’s Z-Series is redefining transport and management scalability across access edge, metro and regional networks. Introducing a revolutionary new architecture, the Z-Series platforms support unprecedented scale from tens to hundreds of Gigabits of service capacity per card slot and Terabits of capacity per shelf.
As multi-layer transport scales across the network, Cyan’s revolutionary CyMS provides transformational planning, operations and management tools to optimise network design and utilisation for maximum network efficiency. Cyan backs the Z-Series products with advanced support services collectively yielding the lowest total cost of ownership in the industry.

Intune Networks was founded in Dublin in 1999 by John Dunne and Tom Farrell, both UCD graduates who were researching laser technology in European funded programmes. Over the next 10 years, Intune developed and refined its technology to solve a critical problem in the optical networking sector and this solution is now being brought to market as a family of telecom switch products.
Along the way, Intune supplied expertise and technology to many European and US research programmes building a customer base of the world’s leading academic and commercial research groups. Now, Intune is focussed on the telecoms equipment market where the next generation of digital service requirements such as quality of experience and high bandwidths are creating a new global opportunity.
Intune currently employs over 120 people and has design centres in Dublin and Belfast and sales offices in the UK and United States.

The Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) promotes the development and deployment of interoperable networking solutions and services through the creation of Implementation Agreements (IAs) for optical networking products, network processing elements, and component technologies.
Implementation agreements will be based on requirements developed cooperatively by end-users, service providers, equipment vendors and technology providers, and aligned with world-wide standards, augmented if necessary.
This is accomplished through industry member participation working together to develop specifications (IAs) for:
- External network element interfaces
- Software interfaces internal to network elements
- Hardware component interfaces internal to network elements
The OIF will create Benchmarks, perform world-wide interoperability testing, build market awareness and promote education for technologies, services and solutions. The OIF will provide feedback to world-wide standards organisations to help achieve a set of implementable, interoperable solutions.
