Applied Innovation for Network Transformation

16 April 2013 | Cannes, France

EXECUTIVE FORUM EUROPE 2013

The Optical Society (OSA) Corporate Associates and Layer123 are pleased to continue their new working partnership, intended to bring significant benefits to the global optical networking industry.  “Executive Forum Europe” will be organised on 16 April 2013 alongside Layer123’s Terabit Optical & Transport SDN conference, in Cannes, France.

A unique and senior forum in Europe for network strategic issues

Executive Forum Europe is a new meeting place for senior Carrier network executives responsible for strategic Optical and IP architecture, design, evolution, transformation and procurement decisions.  Like OSA’s long-established Executive Forum (co-located with OFC/NFOEC), it will provide a selective and interactive meeting place for senior industry leaders in a thought-provoking and collegiate atmosphere, personally moderated by Layer123, OSA and their partners.

Applied innovation: filling the gap between R&D and production networks

Layer123’s Terabits conference program aims to fill the gap between R&D conferences such as ECOC, and Carrier production networks,” explained Mark Lum, Co-Founder and Market Lead at Layer123.  “Carriers face huge change in the coming decade and there is a need to focus on innovation that will transform the future network in the next cycle of evolution.  Having participated at OSA’s Executive Forum held in the United States, I believe that the industry can really benefit from a meeting place here in Europe to focus on strategic networking issues.

Encouraging efficient knowledge exchange at a global level

OSA is very pleased to bring additional benefits and opportunities to its Corporate Members and the telecom community as a whole through this partnership with Layer123.  The Executive Forum events are designed to give senior-level executives a chance to engage in meaningful discussions about trends in today’s challenging business environment.  Our goal is to encourage an efficient global exchange of knowledge from technology to networks to applications in the optical communications field,” said Elizabeth Rogan, OSA CEO.

An exciting growth development

Layer123 is delighted to be working with such an eminent organisation as OSA. We see many opportunities for cross-fertilisation between leading industry activities such as the OSA-co-sponsored OFC/NFOEC and Layer123’s Terabit knowledge exchange, to the benefit of the entire industry.  This will be a very exciting growth development for our organisation,” said Robert Jones, Co-Founder and MD of Layer123.
