Peter was previously at Nortel Networks for 9 years responsible for product management of data products and Internet solutions. Prior to that, Peter spent 5 years with Timeplex providing 3rd level support for TDM and packet networking products.



Mr. Jon Baldry

Jon has spent over 17 years working in the telecoms industry in a variety of sales and marketing roles. He joined Transmode in 2004 and has previously worked for Lucent Technologies and Sycamore Networks.

Lutz Blank holds an international degree in Telecommunications and a Ph.D. in the field of High Capacity Optical Transmission Systems.

During 10 years of R&D at BT’s Research Laboratories in the UK he published widely in the field of ultra long distance and high capacity fibre optic transmission systems. He then moved into business roles with BT Corporate Strategy and Product Marketing.

In 1995 he joined Colt in Germany with a focus on Engineering, Product Marketing and Wholesale business opportunities. Subsequently he has held a range of international roles for Colt, primarily on Products and Marketing.



Mr. Nan Chen

Nan Chen is known in the telecom/networking industry as the founding President of the MEF. The MEF has materially shaped the telecom and Internet industry by establishing Carrier Ethernet as the predominant technology and one of the fastest growing services for businesses, homes, mobile infrastructure, and for next generation networking for the Internet.

Ms. Rosemary Cochran
Principal & Co-Founder, Vertical Systems Group


Rosemary directs Vertical Systems Group’s Strategic Consulting and Research Services practice. She works with network service providers and equipment suppliers on engagements ranging from strategic planning and market opportunity assessments, to primary research studies and due diligence on mergers/acquisitions.

Rosemary co-founded Vertical Systems Group in 1986 with the vision of supplying the industry with in-depth quantification and real world research on how enterprises utilize network technologies. Since then, she has helped the industry navigate through several technology transitions, including the current migration from legacy services to IP/MPLS VPNs and Ethernet. Ms. Erin Dunne

Erin manages the delivery and support of Vertical Systems Group’s ENS (Emerging Networks Service) Research Program offerings for clients worldwide. In this role, she coordinates analyst support resources and directs content distribution for syndicated ENS research.

Erin is frequently sourced by leading industry media and speaks regularly at major networking conferences and forums, including the MEF. Mr. François Eloy

François Eloy was appointed EVP, Colt Communication Services (CCS) in January 2011. His prime responsibility is to integrate the activities of the Wholesale and Midsize business divisions and focus on selling transactional services to meet needs of the channel through an indirect client engagement.

Previously François was Managing Director of Wholesale with the responsibility of positioning Wholesale at Colt as Europe's leading information delivery platform supplier to Carriers, Service Providers and System Integrators that require solutions across Europe. François joined Colt in January 2006 from BT Global Services where he successfully established BT France as a major new player with the launch of their Major Business Channel. He was previously with Equant for 10 years in a variety of roles, culminating in the position of Managing Director, Equant France.

Eric Gillenwater joined CENX in July 2009 bringing 15 years of carrier and service provider experience. Eric’s worldwide role at CENX includes responsibilities for all global client facing activities.

Prior to joining CENX, Eric oversaw Telstra America’s International Carriers Division where his responsibilities included revenue attainment and commercial management. Prior to Telstra, Eric managed multiple MCI WorldCom (legacy MFS) offices in the New York metropolitan area. Eric has extensive experience in working within the Tier 1 carrier space with specialized knowledge of the global submarine industry and metropolitan access networks. Eric holds an International MBA degree from Fordham University.

Mr. Steve Hateley

Steve has been in the telecommunications software and OSS market for eleven years, working at Newbridge Networks, Alcatel-Lucent and InfoVista. He is a regular speaker at events such as Management World, Carrier Ethernet World Congress, MPLS & Ethernet World Congress, Light Reading Live and is an active contributor on the marketing committee of the Metro Ethernet Forum.

Mr. Adam Janota

Having joined Equinix in 2009, Adam Janota is focused on the development of Carrier and Network business in Europe. With his expertise, Mr Janota has helped define the strategy for connectivity services within Equinix IBX data centers and has been the lead on the Equinix Carrier Ethernet Exchange program in Europe, from concept trials through to deployment.

Adam joined Equinix from Reliance Globalcom, the international telecommunications arm of Reliance Communications, where, as General Manager for the International Business unit, he was responsible for international business development, strategy and revenue. Prior to this he also held roles at Corporation, EXARIO Networks Corporation and POLO Ralph Lauren Corporation.

Mr Janota holds a Bachelor’s in ceramic engineering and materials science, earned at Alfred University, NY.



Mr. Brett Johnson

Brett is Vice President Business Development for AboveNet Europe and has over 20 years of industry experience.

Brett has been with AboveNet since 2002. Having joined the company as UK Sales Director he successfully grew the customer base and revenue every year. In March 2008 Brett was promoted to Vice President of Business Development. He brings to this role his extensive industry experience combined with commercial understanding and the ability to develop innovative solutions.

In his current role Brett is responsible for identifying new opportunities and markets and is spearheading the expansion of AboveNet into Europe as well as enhancements to the UK network.

Prior to joining AboveNet Brett was at Cable & Wireless where he headed up a number of sales and business development functions. His previous experience also includes senior roles at a number of equipment manufactures and distribution organisations.



Mr. Robert Jones

Robert is a highly trained and experienced research engineer with two published patents in the field of process engineering.

Having left the engineering world to use latent skills in communication and management, Robert spent 10 years in the events business working for a global events organisation, during which time he developed an astute judgement of what will work commercially and how to meet customer expectations, launching and growing events that were highly successful in Europe, Asia and South America.

Robert’s ambition is to combine his training, experience and temperament as an engineer and events organiser, to deliver real value to the industry he has served for over a decade: telecommunication networking. By working closely with organisations such as The Broadband Forum, The OIF and others, Robert’s goal is to support innovation and knowledge exchange within the industry through highly focused events, and associated services.

Dr. Andreas Jungmaier
Head of Group Access Transmission Engineering, Vodafone


Andreas joined Vodafone Germany in 2004, working on different aspects of the strategic network evolution of mobile access and core network. In this time, he contributed to the definition of an aligned VF-DE network evolution strategy with a special focus on the long-term access evolution of a mobile carrier towards packet-based transport.

He joined the – the more operational – department of Access Engineering, Design and Optimisation of Vodafone Germany in 2008 and has been heading the group Access Transmission Engineering since then, being responsible for all engineering aspects of network elements of the mobile access (i.e. Ethernet microwave, LTE access transport design, and also looking topics like DCN engineering and performance monitoring).

Before joining Vodafone, Andreas did extensive university research on IP based transport and security protocols (SCTP, TLS) and was awarded a Ph.D. in 2005 for his work on SCTP performance evaluation and load-sharing mechanisms. At the time, he was also actively involved in IETF standardisation.



Mr. Tim King
Product Director, European Transport and Infrastructure, Level 3 Communications


Tim King is responsible for the European Transport and Infrastructure Products within the European division of Level 3 Communications.

Tim joined Level 3 in May 2008 from his previous role of Operations Director of the Apollo Submarine cable network. He has over 15 years of experience in the Telecoms Industry and submarine cable networks, which has included overseeing of the design, construction and operation of a number of Trans-Atlantic and Pan continental cable systems.



Mr. Martin Kingston
Principal Designer, Everything Everywhere


Martin Kingston has over 20 years experience in communications covering broadcast, fixed, mobile and internet services, and the transmission and transport technologies that underpin them. He has been pursuing transport network convergence for the last ten years, firstly in the Orange mobile network, then with the addition of Orange Broadband, and now in Everything Everywhere (the combined Orange and T-Mobile UK networks).

Starting at the lowest layers of the network and working up, he has delivered transport convergence solutions using DWDM, SDH, ATM, MPLS, Ethernet and IP technologies and turned the stack on its head with Pseudowire technology. He is also active in the field of synchronisation in next generation transport networks.



Ms. Rose Klimovich
VP of Product Development & Product Management, Telx


Appointed As the Vice President – Product Development and Product Management for Telx, Rose Klimovich leads Telx’s efforts in creating the Telx strategy and developing and investing in new products and services in areas including colocation, cloud, Ethernet Exchange, Internet and Telepresence video and, developing relationships with vendors, partners and industry analysts. Rose’s team supports vertical markets including Financial Services, Cloud/SaaS, Content/Media and Service Providers.

Prior to this, Rose worked at AT&T and was VP of Business Strategy responsible for strategy development, and evaluation and investment in new markets and technologies. Rose has more than 20 years of experience and achievement in building, scaling and managing Internet, VPN and data businesses. Rose led AT&T to the #1 share position in VPN. In addition to VPN services, Rose led AT&T to be one of the market leaders in IP backbone and IP services.

Rose has an MBA and a BS in Math/Economics from Carnegie-Mellon University. She also attended the Harvard Management Development Program for Executives. Rose is on the Board of Directors of the Women’s Venture Fund.



Mr. Chris Liou
Vice President Network Strategy, Infinera


Chris Liou is the Vice President of Network Strategy at Infinera, where he focuses on strategies for developing low-latency transport networking solutions, along with general long term strategic product planning and next-generation optical network solutions for service providers worldwide. Previously, Chris has also served in the roles of Vice President of Product Planning and Vice President of Product Management at Infinera, where he oversaw all product management and technical marketing activities for the DTN™ product lines, including product planning, product definition, and product lifecycle management.

Prior to Infinera, Chris was at Ciena as the Senior Director of Product Management and Marketing for the CoreDirector™ switch product line and LightWorks intelligent optical networking software, and was responsible for cradle-to-grave product management functions, including product definition, strategy and marketing. Chris joined Ciena through the Lightera Networks acquisition, where he drove product definition and product management of the CoreDirector from inception.

Chris has previously held product management and marketing positions at StrataCom and Cisco, and systems architecture and engineering positions at Hewlett-Packard and Telcordia. Chris received his B.S.E. with high honors in Electrical Engineering and a certificate in Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton University, and received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Stanford University.



Mr. Vin Luthra
Architecture Consultant, KPN


Vin Luthra has over 30 years experience in data networks and value added services. The last 10 of which spent as architect and consultant for KPN's Broadband Internet Services. Over his career, Vin has worked as a programmer, system analyst, in customer support, technical sales support, as a system consultant, management consultant and the last five years as architect consultant.

In the past Vin Luthra has worked with British Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, Austrian PTT, SIP in Italy and Telecom companies in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. Currently, he is Architect Consultant at KPN for Wholesale Broadband Access and Wholesale Ethernet Access Services.

Mr. Robert Mlinarić
Transmission Network Expert, VIPnet


Robert joined VIPnet in 2001 and has 9 years of experience in telecommunications. Currently Robert holds the position of Transport Network Expert responsible for design and planning of core network transport solutions.

In the previous 3 years Robert was responsible for the introducing of IP into the VIPnet access network, covering both financial and operational considerations. Previously Robert has been involved in several projects as a technology lead and has developed experience of wireless technologies such as Wimax and PMP as well as integrated telecom solutions for business customers when working in fixed network planning department.

"The emerging need for higher capacity in the RAN has called for a step change in today's backhaul networks. Telecom operators face great chalenges in securing the customer experience in an IP network environment. With LTE on its way, there is no doubt that operators must embrace IP/Ethernet networking".



Mr. David Noguer Bau
Head of Service Provider Marketing EMEA, Juniper Networks


David Noguer Bau is the Head of Carrier Ethernet and Multiplay Marketing for Juniper Networks EMEA. He has extensive experience in Carrier Data Services with special emphasis on next generation Multiplay services and network architectures. Prior to joining Juniper Networks, Mr. Noguer Bau spent seven years at Nortel where he was a Business Development Manager specializing in Carrier Ethernet and Broadband areas. Before Nortel he worked at Eicon-Dialogic as Technical Manager in Spain. David is the Country Marketing Chair at Metro Ethernet Forum for Spain.

Mr. Noguer has wide experience speaking at international Conferences. He holds an IT engineering degree from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) and has an executive MBA from EADA Barcelona.



Mr. Jim Poole
General Manager, Global Networks & Content, Equinix


Jim Poole joined Equinix in January 2010. He was most recently with Roundbox as VP Business Development. Roundbox is the leading provider of mobile broadcast software for broadcasters, mobile operators, and device manufacturers. He has been working with the mobile community for the last two years in this role.

Over the last 18 years Jim has held a variety of senior level positions in product management, sales management, and systems engineering with Savvis, Cable & Wireless America, DynamicSoft, and UUNET Worldcom. He has significant experience in leading complex pre-sales bid support, driving strategic partnerships, and managing infrastructure installations both in hard-line and 3G wireless environments.



Dr. Michael Ritter
Vice President Technical Marketing, ADVA Optical Networking


As Vice President of Technical Marketing, Michael Ritter drives the the vision of ADVA Optical Networking's innovative Optical+Ethernet technology portfolio into the marketplace. Recognizing current technology architectures while keeping an eye on the network trends of the future, Michael helps ADVA Optical Networking to best position the company technology and solutions for its global service provider and enterprise cusomers.

Michael assumes his current role after serving as Vice President, Business Management Ethernet Access, and after a long history at ADVA Optical Networking in carrier business development and technology strategy. He has a solid background in the technologies that drive the network forward.

Michael brought to ADVA Optical Networking eight years of experience working with the international service provider industry when he joined the company in August 2000. After leading a research and consulting team in telecommunications at the University of Wurzburg in Germany, Michael served with Siemens Information & Communication Transport Networks as a Product Line Manager for Synchronous Digital Hierarchy/Synchronous Optical Network (SDH/SONET) technology and then took over responsibility for strategic pricing.

Michael earned a Master's Degree and Doctorate in computer and comminucations science from Bayerische Julius-Maximilians Universtat Wurzburg in Germany.



Dr. Alexander Schneider
Head of Group Technology, Telekom Austria Group


Alexander Schneider joined Mobilkom Austria in 1999 after a two years research project at Technical University Vienna related to UMTS. He was responsible project manager for the world first launch of a nationwide GPRS network.

In 2001 he became department manager for Core Network Planning and in 2005 he became department manager for Backbone and Transmission Network Planning. In 2007 he changed to the international division of mobilkom austria group being responsible for Transmission Planning. After the merger of mobilkom austria with Telekom Austria in July 2010 this division was merged with Telekom Austria Holding. Alexander holds a Ph.D. in technical sciences at Technical University Vienna.



Mr. Paul Sinclair
Senior Product Marketing Manager, Colt Technology Services


Paul Sinclair is an experienced European business manager with a proven track record of delivering spectacular commercial results for UK and European carriers.

Paul manages a Pan-European team tasked with Managing, Evolving and Developing all products across Europe. In addition Paul is has used his extensive knowledge to develop and build an industry leading market intelligence team.

Prior to Colt Paul was Senior Product Manager for euNetworks, and has previously been a Business Solution Architect with Cable&Wireless addressing customer major shift in to market to unified commuincation embodying Application aware networking, Security, SOA, Collaboration, FMC, etc.

Paul has delivered advanced data services while with ntl, was Product Manager (Ethernet) for Thus and has also been General Manager of Europe for 360 networks, heading up the roll out of Europe’s largest optical switched and MPLS/IP networks.



Mr. Michael South
Product Manager Data Services, Colt Technology Services


Michael South is a product manager at Colt Technology Services, and is responsible for Colt’s European private line and wavelength product portfolios.

Prior to joining Colt, Michael worked at Global Crossing where his responsibilities included network design & architecture, representation at regulatory events and strategic cost reduction initiatives.

Michael started his career as a graduate trainee at British Rail Telecom. He holds an honours degree in Electrical Engineering from Sheffield University, and is based in London.



Mr. David Stokes
EMEA Head of HLN/IP Offer Marketing, Alcatel-Lucent


David has over 20 years experience in the Telecoms industry. He graduated from the University College of North Wales at Bangor with a Masters Degree and later an MBA from the Open University, he initially worked as a hardware engineer on Digital Access cross connect systems and then as a systems engineer working on PON and DSL systems.

Since 1996 David has worked for Alcatel-Lucent, as a Systems engineer he was instrumental in specifying the management system Alcatel-Lucent’s first the generation of WDM systems. Following this David was at the forefront of introducing Ethernet Management and co-ordinating Ethernet feature introduction across the optical portfolio. After a brief spell in the Alcatel-Lucent W-CDMA organisation, David moved into marketing as the Marketing Manager for Alcatel-Lucent's Optical Carrier Ethernet solutions and he is now the Marketing Manager for Alcatel-Lucent's infrastructure solutions in EMEA.



Mr. Phil Tilley
Global Marketing Co-Chair, MEF


Senior Director, European Marketing, IPD, Alcatel-Lucent


Phil Tilley currently holds the position of Senior Director, European Regional Marketing for Alcatel-Lucent’s IP Division. His responsibilities include developing the market awareness of Alcatel-Lucents IP product portfolio, working with service providers to ensure success with their business services portfolio and building the required IP skills within Alcatel-Lucent to support a market leading IP portfolio.

Phil is also the Global marketing Co-Chair for the MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) where he is working with other vendors and service provider members to increase awareness and adoption of Carrier Ethernet.

Phil has more than 15 years engineering and marketing experience. He has worked closely with many carriers throughout Europe advising on the latest market trends and how these carriers can bring the technologies to market in a user centric manor. He is a regular presenter and chairman in industry conferences.

He joined Newbridge Networks in 1992, prior to its acquisition by Alcatel, starting as an approvals engineer. He subsequently held posts as product specialist, product manager and new carrier sector marketing manager. Phil has a Bachelor of Science degree in electronic engineering from the University College of North Wales.



Mr. François Tournesac
EMEA Marketing Co-Chair, MEF


VP Business Development, EMEA, Telco Systems


François Tournesac, Head of Carrier Ethernet business development and MEF Marketing Co-Chair for Europe, joined Nokia Siemens Networks with the Atrica acquisition in January 2008. He founded Atrica in EMEA and created the Carrier Ethernet market as VP of Sales.

François also worked at 3Com for ten years in various positions, including Director of Enterprise Sales & Marketing in Asia Pacific based in Singapore. Previously, he worked as an ATM consultant, managing European projects for RACE (Research & development in Advance Communication Environment) with France Telecom for two years.

François Tournesac holds a M.A. of Economy and Strategy in Telecommunications from Arts & Metiers, a M.S. in Telecommunications from Citcom, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from ESME Sudria in Paris.

He is/has active in professional, technical associations including:
- MEF Marketing Co-Chair, nominated in 2008
- Paris X ENST lecture on IP and carrier Ethernet networking since 2000
- ATM Forum Ambassador Asia, 1995-1999- active participation in interoperability lab tests



Mr. Bart Van de Velde
Head of Business Development, IP NGN Infrastructure, Cisco


Bart Van de Velde leads the IP NGN team for Cisco’s Service Provider Group in Europe. In this responsibility he is managing the business development activities in the area of NGN transformation covering Core, Edge, Carrier Ethernet, Broadband Access and network management solutions.

Bart joined Cisco in 1999 and has held various technical and business development positions including product manager and senior consulting engineer on broadband technologies.

Prior to joining Cisco, Bart was a member of the initial marketing team at Alcatel developing digital subscriber line (DSL) and remote access carrier solutions. Altogether, Bart has over 14 years of experience in the service provider market.

Bart holds a Masters Degree in Electro-technical Engineering from the University of Ghent, Belgium.




Mr. Paolo Volpato
Product Strategy Manager - Wireless Transmission, Alcatel-Lucent


Since 2008, Product Strategy Manager for Wireless Transmission products, at Alcatel-Lucent. His main focus is on networking issues arising from next-generation services in mobile backhauling, specifically LTE. Involved in Alcatel-Lucent definition of an end-to-end LTE service Architecture.

Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent, Paolo worked for Wind, the second largest operator in Italy, within Network Architecture. Appointed as coordinator of the activities gathered under the umbrella of Wind’s Network Simplification Project, the strategic program towards the all-IP model and delegate for Wind in the Orascom Data Networks Committee.

He has been working for more than 15 years in TLC; before joining Wind worked for Infostrada, in Network Planning, and Italtel, in R&D. Paolo has a degree in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan; Master in “Marketing & Communication”.
